What were we? What are we? What are we going to become?

Development!!!

The need of the hour, something that the human race strives for today.

A computer which was once accommodated in 2 rooms, can now be operated on the top of your palms. Sitting in our houses we can be acquainted with the latest happenings all over the world.

One can board a plane from Qatar and in 12 hours, VOILA!!! Your in London already!

What were we before; Early man, hunting with domestic tools, in search for food.....no comforts whatsoever. Man could not resist investigating and discovering the environment around him. This marked the progress of man. We began with stones, and now, over several years of civilisation, we have reached 2009 with so many sophisticated gadgets around us that help us in our daily activities.

Added to this, we have not brought progress to a standstill. It has become and inevitable process, because we want to discover more, invent more, improve more....Its like a thirst which never quenches. Karl Marx quoted that "******* (to avoid any kind of controversies) is the opium of man", well I say, "In the contemporary world, Development has become the opium of man"

Let me ask mankind a question, this so called "development" we are caught up in, at what cost are we doing it? The contemporary world has become nothing but a mere rat race.

Everyone has to compete in this race and those who fall out, become outcasts and cannot survive. Where are those good old days? When the entire family- Grand Parents, Cousins, children all lived under one roof.

Now, its the "Nuclear family" system, because relations is no more"required" by us, we have to progress and move along. Also, in this "Nuclear family" system, the parents are so caught up with today's rat race that they have no more spare time with their children and see where they are heading too.

Isn't this race all for More Money?

Man has forgotten the fact that we are all born with empty fist's and we leave the world with empty fist's. What ever we do in the middle is all peripheral and not immortal. Alexander the great himself said that-" After my death, place my hand out of my coffin to show that I cam into this world with nothing and I am going back with nothing."

God gave us emotions so that we could- feel, love, cry, enjoy. But we got so caught up with progress that we sacrificed everything. Isn't this so ironic, that countries over the world spend billions of dollars to develop space technology, explore the extra-terrestrial world, but these countries have left the fact unnoticed that several people in their country cannot manage a square meal a day. All that money for "SPACE TECH" could be used down here. Why we should we care about the rest of the world, we have to "develop more".

What were we before?
Perhaps we dint have the computer or Internet.
Perhaps we dint have the Television.
Perhaps we dint have Cars.

But we sure had Emotions....Fun filled moments with relatives, time for recreations.
I must confess that I myself am a part of this system, but I sure do miss my relatives, grannies and most off all, my country.

What have we Become?
We are in a world that gets old in a single day due to this rapid rate of progress done at the cost off all humanly emotions. Is this the way all of us want to end up and leave this world?

I certainly don't!!!

It is up to our generations to rise to this situation and rebuild those qualities of mankind once had. I am not saying that development should be brought to a halt. That would be incorrect. All my message is that, don't forget those values, tradition, heritage, that we have inherited from our past, in this world full of competition.

Because, we knew what we were....We know what we are...but...We do not know what we are going to become!!!
